Experience

As an educator for twenty-four years teaching at the elementary, middle, high school, and the university levels, I believe my experience qualifies me to collaboratively set policy in terms of curriculum, instructional practices, assessment, and staff development for the purpose of enhancing student achievement and promoting academic growth.

I have taught mathematics, science, and social science to a diverse group of students, including English language learners and special education students.

My time working as a university professor, mentoring student teachers in multiple districts across Southern California has provided me with additional insight as to what works effectively in schools and what does not.

Additionally, before becoming an educator, I worked for many years in the private sector in the areas of accounting, finance, strategic planning, operations, data analysis, personnel, and sales/marketing. This experience aptly prepares me to oversee budgetary/financial considerations, organizational structures, and data to ensure tax dollars are spent efficiently and wisely in order to promote optimal educational outcomes for students. My experience both in education and in the business sector fittingly qualifies me to oversee and promote opportunities in career and technical education (CTE).
